ACHAN'S PUNISHMENT - Part 2.

[Joshua 7:22-26]

22. So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent, and there it was, hidden in his tent, with the silver underneath. 

23. They took the things from the tent, brought them to Joshua and all the Israelites, and spread them out before the Lord.  

24. Then Joshua, together with all Israel, took Achan, son of Zerah, the silver, the robe and the gold wedge, his sons and daughters, his cattle, donkeys and sheep, his tent and all that he had, to the Valley of Achor. 

25. Joshua said: "Why have you brought this trouble on us? The Lord will bring trouble on you today!" Then all Israel stoned him, and after they had stoned the rest, they burned them. 

26. Over Achan they heaped up a large pile of rocks, which remains to this day. Then the Lord turned from His fierce anger. Therefore that place has been called the Valley of Achor ever since. 

(Achor means 'trouble'.)

[Josua 7:22-26]

22. Toe Josua dan boodskappers stuur en hulle na die tent loop, lê die silwer daaronder. 

23. En hulle het dit uit die tent uitgehaal, en dit na Josua en al die kinders van Israel gebring, en dit voor die aangesig van die Here uitgeskud. 

24. Daarop het Josua en die hele Israel met hom saam, Agan, die seun van Serag, geneem met die silwer en die mantel en die goudstaaf, en sy seuns en sy dogters en sy beeste, en sy esels en sy kleinvee, en sy tent en alles wat aan hom behoort het, en alles na die dal Agor gebring. 

25. En Josua het gesê: "Hoe het jy ons in die ongeluk gestort! Die Here sal jou vandag in die ongeluk stort!" Daarop het die hele Israel hom gestenig, en hulle met vuur verbrand, en klippe op hulle gegooi. 

26. En hulle het 'n groot hoop klippe op hom gestapel, wat tot vandag toe daar is. Toe het die Here Hom afgewend van die gloed van Sy toorn. Daarom noem hulle daardie plek Dal Agor tot vandag toe. 

(Agor beteken "moeilikheid.")
