PETER AND JOHN BEFORE THE SANHEDRIN. / PETRUS EN JOHANNES VOOR DIE JOODSE RAAD.

Weekend 18 & 19 June 2016. 

WORD OF THE DAY:

(Psalm 77:1,2)

1. I will cry to the Lord with my voice, even to God with my voice, and He will give ear and hearken to me. 

2. In the day of my trouble I seek (inquire of and desperately require) the Lord; in the night my hand is stretched out (in prayer) without slacking up; I refuse to be comforted. 

MESSAGE OF THE DAY:

PETER AND JOHN BEFORE THE SANHEDRIN:

(Acts 4:1-12)

1. And while they (Peter and John) were talking to the people, the high priests and military commander of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them, 

2. Being vexed and indignant through and through because they were teaching the people, and proclaiming in (the case of) Jesus the resurrection from the dead.  

3. So they laid hands on them (arrested them), and put them in prison until the following day, for it was already evening. 

4. But many of those who heard the message believed (adhered to and trusted in, and relied on Jesus as the Christ). And their number grew and came to about 5,000. 

5. Then on the following day, their magistrates and elders and scribes were assembled in Jerusalem,

6. Including Annas the high priest and Caiaphas and John and Alexander, and all others who belonged to the high priestly relationship. 

7. And they set the men in their midst and repeatedly demanded: "By what sort of power or by what kind of authority did (such people as) you did this (healing)?"

8. Then Peter (because he was) filled with (and controlled by) the Holy Spirit, said to them: "Rulers of the people and members of the council (the Sanhedrin),

9. "If we are being put on trial (here) today and examined concerning a good deed done to benefit a feeble (helpless) cripple, by what means this man has been restored to health, 

10. "Let it be known and understood by all of you, and by the whole house of Israel, that in the Name and through the power and authority of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Whom you crucified, (but) Whom God raised from the dead, in Him and by means of Him, this man is standing here before you, well and sound in body,

11. "This Jesus is the Stone which was despised and rejected by you, the builders, but which Has become the Head of the corner (the Cornerstone). 

12. And there is salvation in and through no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by and in which we must be saved."

WOORD VAN DIE DAG:

2. My stem is tot God en ek roep; my stem is tot God, dat Hy na my kan luister. 

3. Op die dag van my benoudheid  soek ek die Here; snags bly my hand uitgestrek sonder om moeg te word, en my siel weier om getroos te word. 

BOODSKAP VAN DIE DAG:

PETRUS EN JOHANNES VOOR DIE JOODSE RAAD:

(Handelinge 4:1-12)

1. En terwyl hulle (Petrus en Johannes) besig was om met die volk te spreek, het die priesters en die hoofman van die tempel, en die Sadduseërs op hulle afgekom,

2. Baie ontevrede dat hulle die volk leer en in Jesus die opstanding uit die dode verkondig. 

3. En hulle het die hande aan hulle geslaan en hulle in die gevangenis gesit tot die volgende môre toe, want dit was al aand. 

4. En baie van die wat die Woord gehoor het, het geglo; en die getal van die manne het omtrent vyfduisend geword. 

5. Die volgende dag kom toe hulle owerstes en ouderlinge en skrifgeleerdes in Jerusalem bymekaar,

6. Ook Annas die hoëpriester, en Kájafas en Johannes en Alexander, en almal wat van die hoëpriesterlike familie was;

7. En toe hulle hul voorgebring het, vra hulle: "Deur watter mag en deur watter Naam het julle dit gedoen?"

8. Daarop sê Petrus, vervul met die Heilige Gees aan hulle: "Owerstes van die volk en ouderlinge van Israel,

9. "As ons vandag ondervra word oor 'n weldaad aan 'n man, waardeur hy gesond geword het, 

10. "Laat dit aan julle bekend wees aan julle almal, en aan die hele volk van Israel dat deur die Naam van Jesus Christus die Nasaréner, wat julle gekruisig het, maar wat God uit die dode opgewek het, dat deur Hom hierdie man gesond voor julle staan. 

11. "Hy is die steen wat deur julle die bouers verag is, wat 'n hoeksteen geword het. 

12. "En die saligheid is in niemand anders nie, want daar is ook geen ander naam onder die hemel wat onder die mense gegee is, waardeur ons gered moet word nie."

As dit die wil van God is en deur Sy wonderbare genade en barmhartigheid, sal ek die Woord met u deel so dikwels as wat ek moontlik kan.)
