[Psalm 46:10a]

Be still and know that I Am God. 

MESSAGE OF THE DAY:

PSALM 107, Fourth section ...

1. English - (New English Translation)

[Psalm 107:35-43]

35. As for His people, He turned a desert into a pool of water, and a dry land into springs of water. 

36. He allowed the hungry to settle there, and they established a city in which to live. 

37. They cultivated fields, and planted vineyards, which yielded a harvest of fruit. 

38. He blessed them so that they became very numerous. He would not allow their cattle to decrees in number. 

39. As for their enemies, they decreased in number and were beaten down, because of painful distress and suffering. 

40. He would pour contempt on princes and He made them wander in a wasteland with no road.  

41. Yet He protected the needy from oppression, and cared for his families like a flock of sheep. 

42. When the godly see this, they rejoice, and every sinner shuts his mouth. 

43. Whoever is wise, let him take note of these things! Let them consider the Lord's acts of loyal love!

35. Hy het die woestyn 'n waterplas gemaak en die dor land waterfonteine;

36. En Hy het die hongeriges daar laat bly, en hulle het 'n stad gestig om in te woon. 

37. En hulle het hul lande gesaai en wingerde geplant wat vrugte as opbrings verskaf het. 

38. En Hy het hulle geseën, sodat hulle sterk vermenigvuldig het. 

39. Toe het hulle min geword en weggesink deur die druk van onheil en kommer -

40. Hy wat veragting uitstort oor edeles en hulle laat dwaal in 'n woeste wêreld, sonder pad - 

41. Hy het die behoeftige beskerm teen verdrukking en die geslagte soos kuddes gemaak. 

42. Die opregtes sien dit en is bly, maar alle ongeregtigheid maak sy mond toe. 

43. Wie wys is, laat hy op hierdie dinge ag gee, en laat hulle let op die goedertierenhede van die Here.

[Psalm 145:8]

The Lord is gracious and full of compassion. Slow to anger, and great in mercy. 

MESSAGE OF THE DAY:

PSALM 107, Third section ...

1. English - (New English Translation)

[Psalm 107:25-34]

25. For He commands and raises up the stormy wind, which lifts up the waves of the sea. 

26. (Those aboard) mount up to the heavens, they go down again to the deeps; their courage melts away because of their plight. 

27. They reel to and fro and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end. (All their wisdom has come to nothing.)

28. Then they cry to the Lord in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses. 

29. He hushes the storm to be calm and to a gentle whisper, so that the waves of the sea are still. 

30. Then the men are glad because of the calm, and He brings them to their desired haven.  

31. Oh that men would praise (and confess to) the Lord for His goodness and loving-kindness and His wonderful works to the children of men!

32. Let them exalt Him also in the congregation of the people and praise Him in the company of the elders. 

33. He turns rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground. 

34. A fruitful land into a barren, salt waste, because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it.

[Psalm 107:25-34]

25. Want Hy het gespreek en 'n stormwind laat opsteek wat die golwe daarvan opgesweep het.  

26. Hulle het opgerys na die hemel, neergedaal na die dieptes - hulle siel het vergaan van wee. 

27. Hulle het gewaggel en getuimel soos 'n dronk man, en al hulle wysheid is verwar. 

28. Toe het hulle die Here aangeroep in hul benoudheid, en uit hulle angste het Hy hulle uitgelei. 

29. Hy het die storm 'n gesuis gemaak, en hulle golwe het stil geword. 

30. Toe was hulle bly, omdat dit rustig geword het, en Hy het hulle gelei tot die hawe van hul begeerte. 

31. Laat hulle die Here loof om Sy goedertierenheid en om Sy wonderdade aan die mensekinders. 

32. En laat hulle Hom loof in die vergadering van die volk, en Hom roem in die kring van die oudstes. 

33. Hy het riviere 'n woestyn gemaak en waterfonteine 'n dorsland, 

34. Vrugbare land 'n brak aarde, oor die boosheid van die wat daarin woon.

[Psalm 118:24]

This is the day which the Lord Has brought about. We will be glad and rejoice in it. 

MESSAGE OF THE DAY:

PSALM 107, second section ...

1. English - (New English Translation)

[Psalm 107:14-24]

14. He brought them out of the utter darkness, and tore off their shackles. 

15. Let them give thanks to the Lord for His loyal love, and for the amazing things He has done for people!

16. For He shattered the bronze gates, and hacked through the iron bars. 

17. They acted like fools in their rebellious ways, and suffered because of their sins. 

18. They lost their appetite for all food, and they drew near the gates of death. 

19. They cried out to the Lord in their distress; He delivered them from their troubles.  

20. He sent forth His Word and healed them and rescued them; He rescued them from the pit and from destruction. 

21. Let them give thanks to the Lord for His loyal love and for the amazing things He Had done for people! 

22. Let them present thank offerings, and loudly proclaim what He Has done!

23. Some travelled on the sea in ships, and carried cargo over the vast waters. 

24. They witnessed the acts of the Lord, His amazing feats on the deep water.

[Psalm 107:14-24]

14. Hy het hulle uit duisternis en doodskaduwee laat uitgaan en hulle bande verbreek.  

15. Laat hulle die Here loof om Sy goedertierenheid en om sy wonderdade aan die mensekinders;

16. Want Hy het koperdeure verbreek en ystergrendels stukkend geslaan. 

17. Die wat dwase was vanweë die weg van hulle oortreding en weens hulle ongeregtighede gepynig is -

18. Hulle siel het 'n afsku gehad van elke soort voedsel, en hulle het tot by die poorte van die dood gekom. 

19. Toe het hulle die Here aangeroep in hul benoudheid; uit hul angste het Hy hulle verlos. 

20. Hy het Sy Woord uitgestuur, dat Hy hulle kon gesond maak en hulle uit hul kuile red. 

21. Laat hulle die Here loof om Sy goedertierenheid en om sy wonderdade aan die mensekinders;

22. En laat hulle lofoffers bring en met gejubel Sy werke vertel. 

23. Die wat na die see toe afdaal in skepe, wat handel drywe op die groot waters -

24. Húlle het die werke van die Here gesien en Sy wonders in die diepte.

[Psalm 107:13]

They cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He delivered them from their troubles and distresses. 

MESSAGE OF THE DAY:

PSALM 107.

1. English - (New English Translation)

[Psalm 107:1-13]

1. O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!

2. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He Has delivered from the hand of the adversary, 

3. And gathered them out of the lands, from the East and from the West, from the North and from the (Red) Sea in the South. 

4. Some wandered in the wilderness in a solitary desert track; they found no city for habitation. 

5. Hungry and thirsty they fainted; their lives were near to being extinguished.  

6. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses. 

7. He led them forth by the straight and right way, that they might go to a city where they could establish their homes. 

8. Oh that men would praise (and confess to) the Lord for His goodness and loving-kindness and wonderful works to the children of men!

9. For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with good. 

10. Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and in irons,  

11. Because they had rebelled against the words of God and spurned the counsel of the Most High.   

12. Therefore He bowed down their hearts with hard labour; they stumbled and fell down, and there was none to help. 

13. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses.

Toe het hulle die Here aangeroep in hul  benoudheid; uit hul angste het Hy hulle verlos.

[Psalm 107:1-13]

1. Loof die Here, want Hy is goed, want Sy goedertierenheid is tot in ewigheid. 

2. Dit moet die verlostes van die Here sê, wat Hy uit die nood verlos het, 

3. En uit die lande versamel het, van die Ooste en van die Weste, van die Noorde en van die (Rooi) see af, in die Suide. 

4. Hulle het gedwaal in die woestyn, op woeste paaie; 'n stad om in te woon, het hulle nie gevind nie. 

5. Honger, ook dors was hulle; hulle siel het in hulle versmag. 

6. Toe het hulle die Here aangeroep in hul benoudheid; uit hul angste het Hy hulle gered.  

7. En Hy het hulle gelei op 'n regte pad om te gaan na 'n stad om in te woon. 

8. Laat hulle die Here loof om Sy goedertierenheid en om Sy wonderdade aan die mensekinders; 

9. Want Hy het die dorstige siel versadig en die hongerige siel met die goeie vervul. 

10. Die wat in duisternis en doodskaduwee gesit het, gevang in ellende en ysters -

11. Omdat hulle wederstrewig was teen die Woorde van God, en die raad van die Allerhoogste verwerp het. 

12. Hy het hulle hart deur moeite verneder, hulle het gestruikel, en daar was geen helper nie. 

13. Toe het hulle die Here aangeroep in hul benoudheid; uit hul angste het Hy hulle verlos.

1. I will extol You, O Lord, for You have lifted me up and have not let my foes rejoice over me. 

4. Sing to the Lord, all you saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy Name. 

MESSAGE OF THE DAY: 

PSALM 106, Forth section ...

1. English - (Amplified Bible Version.)

[Psalm 106:40-48]

40. Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against His people, insomuch that He abhorrred and rejected His own heritage.

41. And He gave them into the hands of the heathen nations, and they that hated them ruled over them. 

42. Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under the hand of their foes. 

43. Many times did (God) deliver them, but they were rebellious in their counsel and sank low through their iniquity. 

44. Nevertheless He regarded their distress when He heard their cry;

45. And He (earnestly) remembered for their sake His covenant and relented their sentence of evil (comforting and easing Himself) according to the abundance of His mercy and loving-kindness (when they cried out to Him.)

46. He also caused (Israel) to find sympathy among those who had carried them away captive. 

47. "Deliver us O Lord our God, and gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to Your holy Name and glory in praising You.

[Psalm 106:40-48]

40. Toe het die toorn van die Here ontvlam teen Sy volk, en Hy het 'n afsku gekry van Sy erfdeel. 

41. En Hy het hulle in die hand van die heidene gegee, en hulle haters het oor hulle geheers; 

42. En hulle vyande het hulle verdruk, sodat hulle onder hul hand moes buig. 

43. En Hy het hulle baiekeer gered; maar hulle was wederstrewig in hulle voorneme. So het hulle dan weggesink deur hul ongeregtigheid. 

44. Nogtans het Hy hulle benoudheid aangesien, toe Hy hulle smeking gehoor het;

45. En Hy het tot hulle beswil aan Sy verbond gedink en berou gekry na die veelheid van Sy goedertierenhede. 

46. En Hy het hulle medelye laat vind by almal wat hulle as gevangenes weggevoer het.

[Psalm 19:1] The heavens declare the glory of God; the sky displays His handiwork. 

MESSAGE OF THE DAY: 

PSALM 106, Third section ...

1. English - (New English Translation, and some sections from the Amplified Bible) 

[Psalm 106:30-39]

30. Phinehas (the priest) took a stand and intervened, (he executed judgement) and the plague subsided. 

31. This brought him a reward, an eternal gift. 

32. They angered the Lord also by the waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them, 

33. For they provoked (Moses') spirit, so that he spoke unadvisedly and rashly with his lips. 

34. They did not destroy the (heathen) nations, as the Lord commanded them to do.

35. They mixed in and mingled themselves with the (idolatrous) nations and learned their ways and works. 

36. They worshiped and served their idols, which became a snare to them. 

37. They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons. 

38. They shed innocent blood - even the blood of their own sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan. Thus, the land was polluted by bloodshed. 

39. They were defiled by their deeds, and unfaithful in their actions.

[Psalm 106:30-39]

30. Toe het Pinehas (die priester) opgetree en gerig geoefen, en die plaag het opgehou; 

31. En dit is hom gereken as geregtigheid, van geslag tot geslag, tot in ewigheid. 

32. Hulle het die Here ook vertoorn by die waters van Mériba, en dit het met Moses sleg gegaan om hulle ontwil;

33. Want hulle was wederstrewig teen sy gees, sodat hy onverskillig gepraat het met sy lippe.  

34. Hulle het die volke nie verdelg soos die Here aan hulle gesê het nie,

35. Maar hulle het met die heidene vermeng en hulle werke geleer. 

36. En hulle het die heidene se afgode gedien, en dit het vir hulle 'n strik geword. 

37. Bowendien het hulle hul seuns en hul dogters aan die duiwels geoffer -

38. En onskuldige bloed vergiet - die bloed van hul seuns en hul dogters wat hulle aan die afgode van Kanaän geoffer het - sodat die land deur bloedskuld ontheilig is.  

39. En hulle het onrein geword deur hul werke, en gehoereer deur hul dade.

[Psalm 8:1]

O Lord, our Lord, how magnificent is Your reputation throughout the earth! You reveal Your majesty in the heavens above. 

 

MESSAGE OF THE DAY:

PSALM 106, Second section ...

1. English - (New English Translation)

[Psalm 104:18-29]

18. Fire burned their group; the flames scorched the wicked. 

19. They made an image of a calf at Horeb, and worshiped a metal idol. 

20. They traded their majestic God for the image of an ox that eats grass. 

21. They rejected the God Who delivered them, the One Who performed great deeds in Egypt,

22. Amazing feats in the land of Ham, mighty acts by the Red Sea. 

23. He treatened to destroy them, but Moses, His chosen one, interceded with Him and turned back His destructive anger. 

24. They rejected the fruitful land; they did not believe His promise.  

25. They grumbled in their tents; they did not obey the Lord. 

26. So He made a solemn vow that He would make them die in the desert. 

27. Make their descendants die among the nations, and scatter them among foreign lands. 

28. They worshiped Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead. 

29. They made the Lord angry by their actions, and a plague broke out among them.

O Here, onse Here, hoe heerlik is U Naam op die ganse aarde! U wat U majesteit gelê het op die hemele.

[Psalm 106:18-29]

18. En 'n vuur het gebrand onder hulle bende, 'n vlam die goddelose aan die brand gesteek. 

19. Hulle het by Horeb 'n kalf gemaak, en gebuig voor 'n gegote beeld. 

20. En hulle het hul heerlikheid verruil vir die afbeelding van 'n bees waf gras eet. 

21. Hulle het God vergeet, hulle Verlosser, wat groot dinge gedoen het in Egipte,

22. Wonders in die land van Gam, vreeslike dinge by die Skelfsee. 

23. Toe het Hy gesê dat Hy hulle sou verdelg, as Moses, Sy uitverkorene, nie voor Sy aangesig in die bres gaan staan het, om Sy grimmigheid af te keer, dat Hy nie sou vernietig nie. 

24. Hulle het ook die kosbare land versmaad, Sy Woord nie geglo nie. 

25. En hulle het gemurmureer in hul tente, na die stem van die Here nie geluister nie. 

26. Toe het Hy Sy hand teen hulle opgehef om hulle neer te slaan in die woestyn, 

27. En om hulle nageslag te versprei onder die nasies, en hulle te verstrooi in die lande. 

28. Ook het hulle hul aan Baäl-Peor gekoppel en die offerandes aan die dooies geëet;

29. En hulle het die Here geterg deur hul dade, sodat 'n plaag onder hulle uitgebreek het.
